Since the Netherlands-founded reality TV show “Big Brother” has reached the Philippine shores, it has made massive tidal waves. Can you even believe that “Pinoy Big Brother” is running longer than some of the show’s other franchises abroad? The first-ever “PBB” was in 2005, set against the legendary theme song from Orange & Lemons, “Pinoy Ako.” Genuinely historic.

Now, “Pinoy Big Brother” has seemingly featured housemates of all kinds, shapes, and sizes. There were A-list celebrities, a member of the military, athletes, engineers, cosplayers, and even rags-to-riches stories. Perhaps the most noteworthy was Mindanao native Melai Cantiveros, whose hilariously funny acts inside the Big Brother House were so much loved that she bagged the top prize. Today, Cantiveros is among the most respected Filipina celebrities not only in her country but also in South Korea!

After a long break following the closing down of ABS-CBN, the show’s home network, “Pinoy Big Brother” is back and bigger than ever. The show is also now experimenting with new takes that will surely attract new viewers. Considering their fans around a decade ago are already way older today, right? One of the trendiest housemates of the show’s brand-new season now is Esnyr, who, by the way, is a viral social media personality before he was listed as an official “PBB” housemate. Who is Esnyr? Find out more about him in this fun facts list by MetroLinks.

‘PBB’ Is Fresher Than Ever!

Raise your hands if you are among those who stopped watching “Pinoy Big Brother” other than its heyday or its first seasons just because things already got too monotonous and boring. You are not alone. The television ratings of this show were not as good as those from its first editions. So, the creative and production teams behind it must think of surefire ways to attract new audiences. And they did.

The most recent edition of the globally renowned reality show on TV is a collaboration between the two biggest networks in the Philippines, ABS-CBN and GMA Network. This is interesting because “PBB” used to belong to ABS-CBN, but since their franchise got suspended, the viewership of their shows slowed down, even if they moved to online platforms.

Simply titled “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition,” the latest series lives up to that name as chosen artists from Star Magic of ABS-CBN and Sparkle of GMA are joining forces to fight for the ultimate title of being the Big Winner.

At the start, it was a bit frustrating since the who’s who of the networks were snubbed to give way to lesser-known artists. Try to take a look at this season’s roster to see what the MetroLinks team is meaning to say. However, the show is as historic as ever. Aside from the usual hosts of the previous ABS-CBN “PBB” shows, like Bianca Gonzalez, Robi Domingo, and Kim Chiu, of course, part of the deal with GMA is to also feature hosts from the other network, such as Gabbi Garcia and Mavy Legaspi.

A recent article on GMA News presented Esnyr’s most stylish moments, such as those with him in a black ensemble sitting by a public restroom’s sink area, a classy white hooded ensemble, and a cold weather look in Japan.

5. Briefs, Deodorants, Makeup Kit, And… Wigs Are His Must-Haves Inside Kuya’s House

Briefs, a deodorant, and makeup kit, of course, since you’ll be seen on TV for the latter. But, surprise, surprise, he also wants to bring his wigs. Sure thing, so he won’t be called a guy with a Jose Rizal hair.

“Kailangan ko ‘tong mapasok sa bahay ni Kuya kasi wala lang. Feeling ko, may mga time na sobrang mabo-bored kami doon at dito ako nakilala eh, sa pagpo-portray ng mga different character. Dala ko si Precious, dala ko si Andrei, dala ko si Ma’am Castro. Feeling ko, magagamit ko din siya sa mga task,” he told ABS-CBN News.

7. Esnyr Is Poised To Win The Big Prize

Nah, even if this won’t the the first time “Pinoy Big Brother” will crown a winner who is a comedian, this social media influencer is poised to win the big prize. He has been garnering several votes week-on-week from the viewers and is seldom included on the list of nominees for eviction. Can Esnyr be the next Melai? Who imagines him being part of “It’s Showtime”? Or maybe his own “Maalaala Mo Kaya” biopic, of course.

Watch Esnyr and the rest of the unevicted-yet “Pinoy Big Brother” housemates, plus more surprises launched occasionally, in the show airing primetime on GMA Network at 10 p.m. on weekdays and at 6:15 p.m. on weekends, and on YouTube, too!
